-
Each Europaeum partner institution is asked to invite a distinguished
academic working from another Europaeum partner institution, to take up a
Europaeum Visiting Professorship during the academic year 2005-2006.
-
Each invited Europaeum Visiting Professor (EVP) is asked to indicate a brief
programme of work, which he or she would like to carry out while serving as
an EVP.
- This would typically include personal research, working with
collaborators, discussing possible future collaboration in a teaching or research
project, running a seminar, giving a lecture, teaching or supervising research
students working in the same field of study, or some combination of these
activities. In this way the academic multiplier would work well.
- Invitations are probably best solicited within the auspices of each institution’s
local Europaeum committee, core group, or panel. An informal approach
would then need to be made to the chosen professor, to secure his/her
agreement and to identify his/her programme of work.
-
The nominating institution would receive a sum of £1,000 to cover board and
lodging costs for the EVP. It should aim to provide a working office
environment for the EVP, and identify a lead academic to serve as liaison. It is
also encouraged to add to the support provided by the Europaeum for the
scheme.
-
Each EVP would also receive up to £300 for travel costs. If travel costs
exceed this, additional support would need to be raised by the EVP.
-
Funds would be released once a nomination letter is received from the hosting
institution with dates, together with an acceptance letter from the EVP with a
brief programme of work.
-
The EVP must be in residence for a minimum of two weeks.
-
Brief (one page) reports on the outcome benefits of the visit must be provided
to the Europaeum central office by both the host institution and by the EVP,
who will gain automatic registration to the ERCN.
