ImageThe theme for the 2008 Classics Colloquium will be Metamorphosis between Science and Literature - in its various meanings - literal and metaphorical. It will include both scientific subjects such as alchemy and chemistry, and literary themes such as intertextuality, disguising, pastiche, translation, and so forth.

Classics graduate students at member universities of the Europaeum are invited to take part in this Colloquium which aims to bring young European scholars together with leading academic experts with the chance to present papers for discussion and critique by a fellow international body. Applicants are asked to submit 100-word abstracts to the organizers, Professor Ivano Dionigi and Professor Francesco Citti, University of Bologna ( ) as soon as possible, preferably by the end of September. All papers should be in English. Senior scholars from Europaeum universities will be contacted directly.

Applications will be accepted until the end on July. Abstracts must be submitted by September.

As usual, the Europaeum will provide accommodation and meals for all graduates and lecturers for the duration of the colloquium. Individuals are responsible for covering their own travel costs (either from their department or from their sources).
