Funding

The Europaeum has created a series of small grants schemes, designed to stimulate the growth of new academic links and facilitate the conception of new joint projects for which further funding can later be directly sought. These provide for a step approach to the realisation of joint projects, facilitate detailed planning, and therefore are intended both to greatly increase the academic benefit that can be derived from conventional research funding and to open up opportunities for innovative academic developments to be tried and refined.

Research Project Groups

This scheme aims to stimulate new internationally linked research, within, but not exclusive to, the Europaeum academic community. Each successful group receives a 'pump priming' grant of up to €3,200 support for research initiatives undertaken by groups of academics working collaboratively, involving at least two Europaeum partner institutions. This could be used for the launch and development of a group, to run a research seminar, co-ordinate a research proposal bid, or aid research preparation. In particular it serves to encourage the development of applications to the European Union, national and independent funding bodies. Application guidelines.

See Research Groups for details of projects supported.

New Initiatives Scheme

Small grants of up to €3,200 are available to provide support for innovative and imaginative schemes linking academics and/or students working collaboratively across Europaeum partner institutions. This scheme aims to support a wide range of projects, across the full range of academic disciplines. Preference is given to activities that broaden cultural perspectives, or facilitate interdisciplinary and international collaboration. Applicants are also encouraged to include external partners in their projects.

Visiting Professors

This latest Europaeum academic mobility scheme, established in the 2001-2002 academic year, fulfils one of the key aims of our Mission, to stimulate academic mobility between leading European universities.

The Europaeum provides funds for each of its university partners to create an annual Europaeum Visiting Chair to be filled by scholars working at other partner universities for up to four weeks.
